Manchester City have completed the signing of highly rated teenage winger Jeremy Monga from Leicester City on a five-year contract, strengthening their squad with one of England’s brightest young talents.

The Premier League champions announced the deal with British media reporting the transfer could be worth around £10 million ($13 million), including add-ons, although neither club disclosed the official fee.

Monga, 17, arrives at the Etihad after making history at Leicester, where he became the club’s youngest-ever starter and made 37 senior appearances. He made his Premier League debut at just 15 years old as a substitute in Leicester’s 3-0 defeat to Newcastle under then-manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The England Under-19 international also made his first senior start in the League Cup against Huddersfield and is the third-youngest player to feature in Premier League history, behind Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman.

Speaking after completing the move, Monga said joining Manchester City was an easy decision.

“When I became aware that Manchester City were interested, I knew instantly this was the right choice for me,” he told the club’s official website.

The teenager described the move as a dream come true, praising City’s record of developing academy players into first-team stars.

“For any young footballer, to become part of this amazing club is a dream come true. This has been the best club in England over the past 10 years.”

He added that the progress of academy graduates such as Phil Foden and Nico O’Reilly convinced him there was a clear pathway to first-team football.

“It is a privilege to be here and I’m delighted to have joined.”

Monga becomes the third English player to join Manchester City during the current transfer window, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Pierce Charles and club-record signing Elliot Anderson, as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
