The remains of Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, a 28-year-old officer of the Nigerian Army who was killed during an operation to rescue teachers and pupils abducted from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, have been laid to rest.
Lieutenant Isaac lost his life while leading troops involved in the rescue mission that secured the release of the abducted victims, who regained their freedom on Friday after weeks in captivity.
He was buried with full military honours on July 10, 2026, at the 23rd Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
There are differing accounts of the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death. Some reports claim his convoy struck an explosive device planted in the National Park area of Oyo State, while others allege he stepped on a landmine reportedly planted by suspected Ansaru insurgents believed to be behind the abduction.
Born on August 25, 1997, Lieutenant Isaac was remembered by colleagues and family as a courageous officer who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
He was among the security personnel who lost their lives during the rescue operation, which ultimately led to the successful release of the abducted teachers and pupils.
