Three arraigned over alleged murder of Abuja resident

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arraigned three suspects before the FCT High Court over the alleged murder of Adimike Godwin in the Guzape area of Abuja.

The defendants, identified as Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, are facing a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

According to the police, the case originated from an incident on May 15, 2026, when officers at the Guzape Divisional Headquarters received a distress call from a relative of the deceased who said repeated attempts to reach him had failed.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said detectives who responded to the scene found Godwin unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds.

“Police detectives promptly responded to the scene and found him lying unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was immediately rushed to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel on duty,” Adeh said.

She added that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including the deceased’s driver and gateman.

“Following a discreet and comprehensive investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, five suspects were initially arrested in connection with the case, comprising Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, Comfort Ajibade, the deceased’s driver and gateman,” she said.

Police said investigations subsequently led to the arraignment of Anthony, Stephany and Ajibade before the FCT High Court, where they are standing trial on the charges.
