World record holder Tobi Amusan has qualified for the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final after delivering a series of consistent performances in the women’s 100m hurdles this season.
The Nigerian sprint hurdler secured her place in the season-ending championship, scheduled for the next two months in Brussels, Belgium, after collecting 28 points from five Diamond League meetings.
Amusan is currently second in the Diamond League standings, trailing American rival Masai Russell, who leads the rankings with 32 points. Both athletes still have opportunities to add to their tally in the remaining meets in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the final.
Russell has recorded the fastest time in the world this season at 12.14 seconds, while Amusan’s season-best stands at 12.28 seconds, a time she has matched on three occasions this year.
The two athletes are expected to renew their growing rivalry in Brussels, where Amusan will be chasing a fourth Diamond League title after winning the competition three years in succession.
Amusan remains the women’s 100m hurdles world record holder, having clocked a historic 12.12 seconds to win the world title in Eugene four years ago.
Speaking after another strong campaign, Amusan has consistently demonstrated the form needed to remain among the world’s elite hurdlers as she prepares for the Diamond League finale.
