Popular Nigerian content creator and comedian, Maraji, has encouraged Black women to embrace their natural hair, urging them to reject societal beauty standards that pressure them to alter their appearance.
In a post that has sparked conversations on social media, the entertainer questioned why many Black women feel they must wear hair textures different from their own to feel attractive or confident.
Maraji said it was troubling that natural hair is often regarded as less desirable, despite being an integral part of Black identity.
“Why are we the only people who have to wear another texture of hair to feel beautiful?” she asked.
She urged women to celebrate their natural hair and redefine beauty on their own terms, stressing that confidence should not depend on adopting a different appearance.
Her comments have generated widespread reactions online, with many users supporting her call for greater acceptance of natural hair and challenging conventional beauty ideals.
