Nigeria’s Super Falcons have stepped up preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Casablanca, with only six invited players yet to join the squad ahead of their opening Group B fixture against Malawi.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said that 19 of the 25 invited players had reported to camp, while head coach Justine Madugu supervised a training session involving 15 players at the La Noria Club in Casablanca.
The team’s preparations received a further boost with the arrival of BK Hacken teammates Halimatu Ayinde and Joy Omewa, while Pachuca Tuzas defender Osinachi Ohale and forward Chinwendu Ihezuo were travelling to Morocco to link up with the squad.
Among those already in camp are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Shukurat Oladipo, Rofiat Imuran, Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Sikiratu Isah and Christy Ucheibe.
Also present are midfielders Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini, alongside forwards Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and Omorinsola Babajide. Goalkeepers Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko have also reported for duty.
According to the NFF, six players are still expected to complete the squad, including defender Michelle Alozie, midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forwards Gift Monday, Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi and Uchenna Kanu.
“Nineteen of the 25 invited players are now in camp, with only six players yet to report as preparations continue for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations,” the NFF said.
With most of the squad now assembled, the nine-time African champions have intensified training as they seek to begin their title defence with victory over Malawi before facing the other Group B opponents.
