The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its 2026 recruitment portal, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
The electoral body said the exercise is aimed at strengthening its workforce in key areas including electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics to improve the delivery of its constitutional responsibilities.
According to a notice published on the commission’s website, interested applicants are expected to complete their applications online before the closing date stated on the recruitment portal.
INEC said the recruitment exercise is free and warned prospective applicants against submitting false information or forged documents.
“The application is free of charge,” the commission said, warning that candidates who provide false information or fake credentials would be disqualified and could face prosecution.
The vacancies are divided into three categories.
Under the Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12), available positions include Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer and Quantity Surveyor.
Applicants for these roles must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, while some positions also require a master’s degree, relevant professional certifications such as NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN, at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong ICT, analytical and communication skills.
For the Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) position on Grade Level 08, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, alongside an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate and proficiency in data management and Microsoft Office applications.
Applicants for the Executive Officer II (Registration Area Centre Officer) position on Grade Level 07 are required to possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent, with knowledge of computer operations, data handling and organisational skills.
INEC said applicants must not be older than 35 years, must be physically and mentally fit, possess a valid certificate of state of origin, have no criminal conviction and be willing to serve anywhere in Nigeria.
The commission also said candidates must demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
Interested candidates are required to create an account on the INEC recruitment portal using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number before selecting a preferred vacancy and uploading the required documents.
The required documents include a passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, educational certificates, local government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where applicable.
INEC noted that applicants cannot change their selected vacancy after submission and added that only shortlisted candidates would be invited for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
