NUJ Congratulates Raphael Oni On Diplomatic Appointment

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has congratulated journalist and publisher Raphael Oni on his appointment as Special Assistant on Digital and Public Diplomacy to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.

The council described the appointment as a significant step towards strengthening digital engagement and public diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr Oni brings more than 15 years of experience in diplomatic reporting, government communication and photojournalism to the role. He is also the publisher of Diplomats Extra Magazine.

The NUJ FCT Council said his professional background and institutional knowledge would benefit both the ministry and the wider Nigerian public.

“We are confident he will use his expertise to strengthen transparent, timely, and strategic communications that advance the Ministry’s mandate and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the council said.

Mr Oni previously served as Secretary of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel, Abuja, and was Secretary General of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Nigeria.

The council described him as a committed journalist who had consistently promoted professional standards and collaboration within the media industry.

It said it would support Mr Oni in his new role and expressed confidence that he would serve as “an excellent ambassador” for the union.

The NUJ FCT Council also said it looked forward to working closely with Mr Oni and the ministry’s new media team to improve communication and public engagement.
