The police said the two suspects, both residents of Gwange Zuwadawuri, allegedly confessed to the burglary during interrogation.
The Borno State Police Command has arrested two 17-year-old suspects over the alleged burglary of a provision shop in the Gwange Zuwadawuri area of Maiduguri.
The suspects, identified as Hussain Mohammed and Rabiu Yusuf, were arrested following an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the State Intelligence Department.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the shop owner, Mohammed Bello Umar, reported the incident on 23 August 2026.
Mr Umar told police that about N2 million in cash, provisions and other valuables were stolen from his shop in the early hours of 20 August.
The police said the two suspects, both residents of Gwange Zuwadawuri, allegedly confessed to the burglary during interrogation.
They reportedly named two other suspects, identified as Kalifa and Pato, who remain at large.
«“The suspects confessed to the offence and mentioned two accomplices, identified as Kalifa and Pato, who are still at large,” the police statement said.»
Police said N430,000 had so far been recovered, while efforts were continuing to apprehend the two alleged accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, directed officers handling the case to conduct a thorough investigation and establish the circumstances surrounding the burglary.
He also ordered that all persons found culpable should be brought to justice.
