Two residents have been rescued after part of a one-storey residential building collapsed in Kubwa, Abuja.
The incident occurred at Kubwa 2/2, near Yellow Pages, where the right section of the building collapsed, trapping two tenants in a ground-floor apartment.
According to a statement by Nkechi Isa of the Department of Development Control and the FCT Police Command, the building consists of six blocks of flats.
The statement said the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) received a distress call following the collapse and immediately responded to the scene.
“Two tenants living in a ground-floor apartment were trapped,” the statement said.
Emergency responders subsequently rescued both residents from the rubble.
Other residents of the building were reportedly away at the time of the incident, preventing further casualties.
Authorities are expected to assess the structural condition of the remaining sections of the building and determine the cause of the collapse.
