The party announced the appointments in a statement, outlining the council’s responsibility to coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise support for its candidates.
Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, will serve as co-chairman, while the National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, will serve as vice-chairman.
The NDC also appointed its vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as co-vice-chairman of the council.
The party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary, while Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim has been named director-general.
According to the statement, the council will provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities across the country and drive the mobilisation of Nigerians behind the party’s vision.
The statement says the council is mandated to deliver a “people-centred and issue-based campaign” ahead of the 2027 polls.
It adds that the campaign will focus on the party’s vision of building a “new, just and prosperous Nigeria”.
The NDC called on its members, supporters and Nigerians to remain united and focused as it works towards achieving its objectives in the forthcoming election.
