The Kogi State Police Command has advised Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel her planned Sallah visit to the Central Senatorial District, citing security concerns.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya, on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, authorities emphasized that the event would violate a recent ban on political gatherings imposed by the Kogi State Government on March 31.
The police warned that intelligence reports indicated plans by hoodlums to hijack the rally and cause unrest, threatening the stability of the state. “The command cannot afford to jeopardize the existing peace,” the statement read, adding that law enforcement would take strict action against anyone disrupting public order.
Despite the ban, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan insists her visit is a non-political “homecoming” to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with her constituents.
