The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has announced a four-week extension of the ongoing strike in public universities
The role-over strike action is with effect from 12.01 a.m. on Monday, 1st August 2022
A statement by the National President of ASUU Professor Emmanuel Osodeke on monday said NEC took the decision after a review of the 12 weeks roll-over strike action with effect from 9th may 2022, which ended today
Professor Osodeke said following extensive deliberations and taking cognizance of governments past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action, the Union resolved that the strike be rolled over again for four more weeks.
According to professor Osodeke, this is to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.
