The Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Samaila Bagudu, has been rescued by military personnel following a coordinated operation in the Dakin Gari and Bunza axis of the state.

Security sources confirmed that the rescue took place in the early hours of Saturday after troops acted on credible intelligence that led them to the kidnappers’ hideout.

Bagudu, who was abducted late Friday night from his residence in Bagudo town, was reportedly found in good condition and has since been reunited with his family.

A senior security official in Birnin Kebbi, who spoke anonymously, revealed that the swift intervention of the military prevented the abductors from moving the lawmaker deeper into the forest, where rescue efforts would have been more difficult.

While the Kebbi State Government and the State Police Command are yet to release official statements on the incident, residents of Bagudo have expressed relief and appreciation for the successful rescue operation.

Recall that the Deputy Speaker was kidnapped shortly after observing the Isha’i prayer at a mosque near his home. During the attack, a young man assisting him was injured in the process.
