Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have intensified their clearance operations across Taraba State under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, aimed at eliminating bandits and terrorist elements within their area of responsibility.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding bandit activities around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum Local Government Area, the troops launched a clearance patrol through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba.

The operation successfully cleared the targeted areas, including adjoining settlements and river lines.

In a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, says fresh intelligence received at Kofar Ahmadu village indicates that bandits had been sighted around TY Farm in Tati.

The troops immediately moved toward the location through Sabon Gida Tati, engaging the criminals in a brief firefight. Overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower, the bandits fled deep into the forest.

During the follow-up operation, the soldiers discovered and destroyed a major bandit camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. A Dane gun and other items were recovered from the site.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their swift response, courage, and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining peace and security across Taraba State and urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing military efforts.
