In a major boost to diplomatic and economic ties, Air Algerie will launch its inaugural direct flight service between Algiers and Abuja on April 6, 2025. This milestone follows the successful implementation of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and Algeria, further strengthening regional cooperation and connectivity.
Operated by Algeria’s national carrier using a Boeing 737 aircraft, the new route is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and investment opportunities between both nations. This initiative underscores the shared commitment of Nigeria and Algeria to deepening bilateral collaboration in aviation, commerce, and cultural exchange.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledges the crucial role played by the Nigerian Embassy in Algiers in facilitating this achievement. Dignitaries expected on the inaugural flight include the Charge d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Algiers, representatives from the Algerian government, and leaders of the Nigerian community in Algeria.
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant aviation authorities, extends its full support to Air Algerie to ensure the success and sustainability of this service. The new route is also expected to provide Nigerians with an affordable and convenient gateway to Europe, leveraging Algeria’s strategic geographical position.
With flights scheduled twice a week, the Nigerian government urges citizens and business communities to take advantage of this improved air connectivity to explore trade, tourism, and cultural opportunities.
