One killed as gunmen attack Imo state customary court

Gunmen invaded the Ejemekwuru Customary Court in  Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State on Thursday and killed its Chairman, Nnaemeka Ugboma.

 

Imo State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident but it was gathered that the attackers stormed the area in motorcycles, while Mr. Ugboma was still in the court premises, and shot him dead.

 

The incident caused a panic in the community there by forcing lawyers, court staffs and residents to flee for safety.

The customary court jurist hails from the same Oguta Local Government Area.

The identity of the attackers and the motive of the attack is yet to be known.

 

The police spokesperson in the state, Henry Okoye and the command is yet to make any statement on the incident.

 

Imo state has been experiencing a series of attacks by gunmen who have unleashed terror in the state and other South-Eastern states.
