Popular Nigerian photographer and biker, Orowole Kolapoz, widely known as Kola Onifoto, has died following a lone motorcycle accident in Lagos.
The 36-year-old travel enthusiast and brand influencer reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash after being hospitalised for several hours.
According to friends and associates, the accident occurred during what he had described as his first solo motorcycle trip outside Lagos. Shortly before the crash, Kola had taken to his official Facebook page to announce he was embarking on a bike trip to Akure.
“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote.
Sources disclosed that he was initially rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps at 7UP, Ojota, before being transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where he battled for his life.
Despite efforts by medical personnel and an outpouring of prayers from supporters across social media platforms, he later passed away.
News of his death sparked widespread grief online, with friends, colleagues and followers describing him as passionate, adventurous and deeply inspiring.
“He lived boldly and chased his dreams fearlessly. This one hurts deeply,” a close friend wrote in a tribute shared on Instagram.
Another associate described him as “a creative force whose love for travel and biking motivated many young Nigerians to pursue their passions.”
Details surrounding the exact cause of the crash remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Earlier this year, Kola had celebrated achieving his long-time dream of becoming a biker. Sharing a photo of himself beside his new motorcycle on X, he wrote: “I recently became a new biker. One of my life dreams clocked and achieved! I won’t fall and die on this – Amen!”
His sudden passing has left Nigeria’s biking and creative communities in mourning.
