Manchester United is bracing for a major squad shake-up as five first-team players — Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Tyrell Malacia — have officially informed the club of their desire to leave ahead of the new season.

The bombshell was confirmed by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano on Friday via his official X (formerly Twitter) page. Romano reported:

> “BREAKING: Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho have all informed Manchester United they wish to leave.”

Sources within Old Trafford reveal the club has pushed back its players’ return date until later in July to allow time for transfer negotiations and to find resolutions for the unsettled stars. Despite the ongoing saga, United has made it clear that the quintet will continue to have access to the club’s training facilities while their futures are being sorted.

The departures come in the wake of Ruben Amorim’s arrival as manager in November 2024, a tenure which has seen several senior players fall down the pecking order.

Inside the Fallout:

Marcus Rashford, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, saw his symbolic No. 10 shirt handed to £62.5 million summer signing, Matheus Cunha — a move that reportedly intensified tensions between the England forward and the club’s hierarchy.

Jadon Sancho, after an unsuccessful loan spell at Chelsea, failed to seal a permanent move as wage demands proved a stumbling block. The Blues instead paid a £5 million penalty to avoid a £25 million deal.

Alejandro Garnacho was advised by Amorim to seek opportunities elsewhere following his disappointment at being benched during United’s European Cup final clash against Tottenham.

Antony enjoyed a rejuvenating loan spell at Real Betis, with the Spanish club now exploring a fresh loan deal that includes a £30 million obligation to buy.

Tyrell Malacia has struggled with recurrent injuries, and his loan stint with PSV Eindhoven failed to convert into a permanent £8.3 million move.

The looming exits signal a clear message from Amorim as he looks to reshape the squad for his first full campaign in charge.
