President Bola Tinubu has departed Saint Lucia for Brazil, marking the second leg of his two-nation diplomatic tour. The Nigerian leader is set to participate in the 2025 BRICS Summit scheduled for July 6–7 in Rio de Janeiro.

His departure follows a six-day state visit to the Caribbean nation, which began on June 28, 2025. Prime Minister Philip Pierre personally saw off President Tinubu at the Hewanorra International Airport.

During his stay in Saint Lucia, President Tinubu held separate meetings with Governor General Cyril Errol Charles and Prime Minister Pierre. He also addressed a special joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly at Sandals Grande on Monday.

A major highlight of the visit was the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Saint Lucia, alongside the signing of a Technical Manpower Assistance Agreement. The deal paves the way for the deployment of skilled Nigerian professionals to the Caribbean country to support key sectors.

In Brazil, President Tinubu will join other African leaders — including those from Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Africa — at the 17th BRICS Summit, where discussions will focus on global economic cooperation and strengthening partnerships among emerging economies.
