Mavin Records founder, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has revealed the real reasons he is still hesitant about marriage despite his success in the Nigerian music industry.
Speaking on HabbyFX’s YouTube show, the 42-year-old music producer said his fear of marriage stems from failed relationships, social media scandals, and the financial risks that often accompany divorce.
Don Jazzy, who was married in 2003 but divorced two years later, reflected on how love could be both beautiful and risky.
“My parents were madly in love before my mom passed away, and that makes me believe in love. But when you see messy breakups online, it gives you fear,” he explained.
He added that financial concerns also play a major role in his caution: “A man can lose half of everything he has worked for if there’s no prenup. That scares me because what I have is for my generation.”
Although the award-winning producer admitted he had dated since his divorce, he confirmed that he is currently single. “Na fear, though God’s time is the best. I just want the right person, but I’m not sure I’m the right person for somebody’s daughter,” he said.
Reflecting on his personal growth, Don Jazzy admitted that he’s still working on himself: “Am I disciplined enough to be with one person? I’m still praying to be better. I was a menace when I was young, but I’m wiser now.”
Known for his reserved lifestyle, the hitmaker described himself as mostly indoors, splitting time between his home, office, and studio, while delegating duties to his trusted team.
Don Jazzy also took a moment to appreciate artists like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, 2Face, D’banj, Johnny Drille, and Olamide for shaping Nigerian music, noting that his inspiration often comes from “everyday sounds.”
On faith, he said, “I believe in God, but I’ve become sceptical about churches with how things are now.” His honesty about love, fear, and faith has continued to earn him praise from fans for his humility and transparency.
