New SRRBDA Boss Pledges Reforms, Vows to Restore Agency’s Glory

The newly appointed Managing Director of the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA), Alhaji Abubakar Malam, has vowed to reposition the agency for effective service delivery, promising strategic reforms and a renewed focus on the organization’s core mandates.

Speaking during the official handover ceremony in Sokoto, Alhaji Malam outlined his vision for the Authority, emphasizing the importance of aligning operations with its original mission of driving socio-economic growth and strengthening security across the region.

“We are setting clear modalities to redirect our efforts towards fulfilling the foundational objectives of this agency,” he stated. “Under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are determined to fully harness our water resources, mitigate flood risks, and advance sustainable development.”

Alhaji Malam acknowledged the daunting nature of the task ahead, citing the urgent need to restore the agency’s former glory. He stressed that the journey to transformation would be anchored on discipline, a strong work ethic, and collaborative commitment among staff.

He further assured that staff welfare would be prioritized, with clear systems for recognizing productivity, rewarding excellence, and promoting a culture of accountability and professionalism.

The new MD also highlighted the Authority’s critical role in complementing the Federal Government’s agricultural transformation initiatives, including Agro-Industrial Zones, livestock development, sanitation, rural economy enhancement, and food security.

“With the right leadership, teamwork, and commitment, we can turn Sokoto Rima into a model institution for water resources management and rural development,” Malam concluded.
