Maritime stakeholders from across West and Central Africa have converged on Accra, Ghana, for the 2026 Maritime Action Platform Seminar aimed at strengthening regional cooperation on maritime safety and security.
The two-day event, hosted by the Multinational Maritime Coordination Center Zone F in partnership with the Royal Danish Defence College, marks the third in a series of engagements that began in 2024.
Participants include representatives from the Gulf of Guinea Commission, Economic Community of West African States, and Economic Community of Central African States, alongside actors from the shipping and fishing industries, as well as non-regional navies.

Leading the ECOWAS delegation is Abdel-Fatau Musah, who emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among member states.
According to organizers, the seminar is designed to deepen dialogue among national, regional, and international stakeholders on tackling maritime threats in the Gulf of Guinea.
A statement from the organisers noted that the platform seeks to “foster dialogue and understanding regarding maritime safety and security among national, regional and international stakeholders.”
The focus is particularly on Zone F member states, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, where coordinated maritime efforts are considered critical to addressing piracy, illegal fishing, and other transnational crimes.
Organisers added that bringing together diverse stakeholders, including non-regional partners, is key to enhancing collective response mechanisms and ensuring safer maritime domains across the region.
