Nigeria has congratulated Malawi on its Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between both countries.
In a statement the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, conveyed Nigeria’s congratulations to Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Nancy Tembo, describing the anniversary as a celebration of the country’s resilience, unity and progress.
“The milestone reflects the resilience, unity and enduring spirit of the Malawian people in their pursuit of sovereignty, peace and sustainable development,” the statement said.
The minister said Nigeria joined the government and people of Malawi in marking the historic occasion, noting that both nations share a commitment to freedom, democratic values and regional stability.
According to the statement, Nigeria and Malawi have continued to enjoy cordial bilateral relations, with cooperation spanning trade, agriculture, education, capacity building and multilateral engagements.
It added that both countries remain active partners within the African Union, the United Nations and other international organisations, where they work together to promote peace, security and sustainable development across Africa.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Malawi through deeper bilateral partnerships and stronger people-to-people exchanges.
“On this auspicious occasion, Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with Malawi, exploring new avenues of cooperation, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of both nations,” the statement added.
Nigeria concluded by extending its best wishes to the Government and people of Malawi for continued peace, prosperity and national development.
