President Tinubu Returns to Abuja After 10-Day Economic Engagement in Lagos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to return to Abuja today, Monday, following a 10-day working visit to Lagos, where he engaged with top investors, business leaders, and national stakeholders to advance key economic and governance objectives.

The visit, which began on September 26, came shortly after the President attended the coronation ceremony of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, in Ibadan.

According to a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Lagos itinerary was packed with high-level consultations aimed at boosting investor confidence and enhancing public-private sector synergy in line with the administration’s economic renewal agenda.

Key Meetings with Strategic Investors

While in Lagos, the President held crucial discussions with Mr. Bayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners;  and Mr. Hakeem Belo-Osagie, former Chairman of UBA and Etisalat Nigeria, now Chairman of Metis Capital Partners.

The engagements centered on deepening private sector investment in critical sectors of the Nigerian economy and driving sustainable economic growth.

Maritime Sector Development Also in Focus

In addition to financial and industrial stakeholders, President Tinubu also received Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), at a strategic meeting in Lagos. The IMO chief was accompanied by Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, and other maritime sector leaders.

During the meeting, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to repositioning Nigeria’s maritime industry as a key revenue source beyond fossil fuel dependence.

“We are determined to make the maritime sector a cornerstone of our non-oil economic diversification efforts,” the President said.
