The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has turned himself in to the police following allegations of multiple rape and other offences capable of causing a breach of public peace.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed.l that the case has been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.

According to police authorities, Okafor was invited by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Sunday but failed to honour the invitation on Monday, prompting directives for his arrest.

Speaking in an interview with TVC on Wednesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, explained that the pastor initially contacted the police through his lawyer, indicating he would report on Monday.

“When he was invited, he reached us through his lawyer that he would be appearing on Monday. We waited for him, but he did not show up, and I directed that he should be arrested,” Jimoh said.

“Subsequently, he showed up yesterday (Tuesday).”

The Commissioner added that the matter was transferred after it was confirmed that the same case had already been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters.

“We later discovered that the matter had been under investigation at Zone 2 for about three weeks. Since the AIG is my immediate supervisor and already handling the case, we handed it back to the Zone,” Jimoh explained.

Addressing concerns raised by alleged victims on social media, the CP noted that law enforcement agencies now treat online complaints with seriousness in order to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

“The social media space has become a platform for people to lodge complaints. We no longer wait for formal petitions alone before acting in the public interest,” he said.

The controversy surrounding Okafor emerged in mid-December 2025, when multiple allegations were shared online. Among the accusers is Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged a prolonged sexual relationship with the pastor dating back to 2017.

She claimed he made unfulfilled promises of marriage, shared explicit materials, and contributed to the collapse of her previous marriage.

Amid mounting public pressure, Okafor reportedly addressed his congregation on December 28, 2025, during which he apologised for past “mistakes” and knelt at the pulpit to seek forgiveness.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) is considering disciplinary measures, while Okafor has stepped aside from his pastoral duties pending the outcome of investigations.

The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that adequate security has been provided for the alleged victims, adding that investigations at SCID Panti and Zone 2 are ongoing.
