As Muslims across Nigeria and the world mark Eid al-Kabir 2025, my greetings come wrapped in mixed emotions. While this sacred festival remains a symbol of sacrifice, faith, and community, our heart..0d5ts are burdened by the devastation brought about by the recent floods in Mokwa, Niger State.

I extend warm Sallah greetings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCOR; Muslim faithful, and all Nigerians. Yet, my heart is equally heavy as I send my deepest condolences to the people of Mokwa — at home and abroad — who have endured unimaginable loss. To every family grieving loved ones, homes, and livelihoods, Nigeria stands with you. Your pain echoes across our nation, and your courage in the face of tragedy reminds us of our collective resilience.

This national disaster is a stark reminder of the dangers posed not only by climate change but by the fragile state of infrastructure in our rural, semi-urban, and urban communities. The floods in Mokwa did not discriminate — travelers, traders, students, youth corps members, and residents alike were caught unprepared. It is a tragic lesson we cannot afford to ignore.

I commend the efforts of NEMA, emergency responders, volunteers, organizations, and individuals offering support in this time of crisis. Your compassion and service give us hope. But we must resolve, as a people and government, never to let such a preventable tragedy recur. Every Nigerian — regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, or social status — deserves safety, dignity, and responsible leadership.

This moment demands urgent action. I call on the three tiers of government and all relevant authorities to not only provide immediate relief but to commit to long-term solutions: upgrade drainage systems, invest in sustainable urban and rural planning, and develop comprehensive flood management strategies. Climate change is no longer a distant threat — it is here, and we must act decisively to protect lives and livelihoods.

As we offer prayers for healing and recovery, let this Eid al-Kabir be a reminder that together, we can rebuild and demand the change needed for a safer, more secure future. Let us embrace this challenge with sincerity of purpose and a renewed sense of national unity.

May Allah accept our sacrifices, comfort the grieving, and bless Nigeria. Eid Mubarak.
