Police Rescue Kidnap Victims in Ibadan

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, on June 3, 2026.
The rescue operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, following days of intensive intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations.
According to police authorities, Mrs. Adegoke and her children were kidnapped while she was driving the twins to school at approximately 7:30 a.m. on June 3. Investigators subsequently tracked the movements of the kidnappers through sustained intelligence efforts, leading security operatives to the suspects’ hideout.
During the coordinated operation, security personnel engaged the kidnappers in a confrontation. Two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while two rifles were recovered from the scene. The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the courage, professionalism, and dedication displayed by the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the mission. He noted that their commitment and resilience were instrumental in securing the safe release of the hostages.
Meanwhile, efforts have been intensified to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation. Preliminary intelligence indicates that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot wounds. Ongoing operations are focused on tracking, arresting, and prosecuting all individuals linked to the crime.
The Nigeria Police Force also expressed gratitude to members of the public for their cooperation, support, and patience throughout the rescue effort. The Force reaffirmed its commitment to combating violent crime, safeguarding lives and property, and ensuring the security of citizens across the country.
