Popular Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, fondly known as AY, has shared an emotional tribute marking two years since a devastating fire engulfed his Lekki mansion.
In a heartfelt Instagram post AY posted a powerful video montage showing haunting clips of the scorched ruins alongside striking visuals of the now-restored home. The rebuilt mansion, a symbol of resilience and faith, boasts marble floors, grand staircases, and a stunning mix of modern and Afrocentric design.
In a reflective voiceover, AY recounted the emotional toll of the incident:
“Two years ago today, everything went up in flames—my home, my peace, my comfort zone. And that was just the beginning. I have seen betrayal, lies, and storms that tried to silence everything I built.”
Despite the physical and emotional damage, the entertainer emphasized his unwavering faith and strength in the face of adversity:
“But I am still here, not because I am lucky, but because God is faithful. The grave is louder than gossip, and purpose doesn’t burn in fire.”
He concluded with a message of hope and divine restoration:
“They still plot, talk, but while they walk in darkness, I walk in light. Every setback was a setup for something greater. Thank you, God, for beauty after ashes.”
The original fire incident, which occurred two years ago, destroyed the comedian’s residence and temporarily displaced his family. The tragedy drew widespread sympathy and support from fans, celebrities, and industry colleagues alike.
Since unveiling the restored mansion, AY has received an outpouring of congratulatory messages from across the entertainment community and social media.
