NNPC Ltd Seals 20-Year Gas Supply Deal with Ssonic Petroleum for LNG Plant

The NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd (NGML), a subsidiary of NNPC Ltd, in partnership with NIPCO Gas Ltd, has signed a Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with Ssonic Petroleum Ltd to supply natural gas for the company’s proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos State.

Under the terms of the agreement, which was finalized on March 6, 2025, the NGML-NIPCO Unincorporated Joint Venture (UJV) will supply 80 million standard cubic feet (mmscf) per day of natural gas to the Ssonic Petroleum LNG plant over a 20-year period.

He stressed that by ensuring a steady supply of natural gas, the initiative supports the transition to cleaner, more affordable, and environmentally friendly energy sources, reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels and mitigating the impact of global warming.
