Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has called on the Igbo community in Ekiti State to support the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, citing his administration’s commitment to economic development, business growth and inclusive governance.
Speaking during the 2026 Igbo Cultural Festival in Ekiti State, Governor Uzodimma said the Oyebanji administration had created a conducive environment for businesses and investments, enabling entrepreneurs, including members of the Igbo community, to thrive and contribute to the state’s economic progress.
The event, which brought together Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, traditional rulers, business leaders and members of the Igbo community, celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people resident in the state.
In a message shared on his official X handle, Governor Uzodimma described the festival as a reflection of Nigeria’s unity, cultural diversity and national cohesion. He commended the peaceful coexistence enjoyed by Igbo communities across the South-West and other parts of the country, noting their significant contributions to commerce, trade and socio-economic development.
The Imo governor urged Igbo residents in Ekiti to support Governor Oyebanji’s continuity agenda ahead of the next governorship election, arguing that sustained leadership would further strengthen economic opportunities and development in the state.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to fostering national prosperity and inclusiveness through the Renewed Hope agenda, while encouraging citizens to remain optimistic and supportive of policies aimed at advancing good governance.
The cultural celebration served as a platform for promoting cultural integration, strengthening inter-ethnic relations and reinforcing the values of national unity among Nigerians.
