The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in partnership with UNICEF, is preparing to commence the seventh round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS7)—Nigeria’s most comprehensive data-gathering exercise on women, children, and vulnerable populations.
This was disclosed in an official statement released on Tuesday by Alesanmi Folorunso, Head of Communication and Public Relations at NBS.
MICS7 to Guide Nigeria’s Child Health, Nutrition, and Education Policies
The MICS7 Nigeria 2025 survey will provide critical, internationally comparable data on issues such as child health, nutrition, education, child protection, water, and sanitation. The data aims to support evidence-based policymaking and track progress on national priorities, including the Renewed Hope Agenda and the African Union Agenda 2063.
“This survey is Nigeria’s most comprehensive effort to close data gaps affecting women, children, and vulnerable populations,” the statement reads.
Conducted every five years, the MICS initiative has been a key tool in monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other global commitments since 1995.
Survey Begins December 3, 2025 Across All 36 States and FCT
The NBS confirmed that trained field interviewers will begin visiting randomly selected households across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory starting December 3, 2025.
These trained professionals will use digital tools to ensure accurate and efficient data collection, enhancing the credibility and real-time accessibility of survey results.
According to Statistician General, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, MICS “has been Nigeria’s trusted tool for understanding the lives of women and children since 1995, turning complex realities into hard numbers that drive policy and progress.”
NBS Urges Public Cooperation During Data Collection
The NBS has called on members of the public to support the MICS7 field teams by cooperating with interviewers and providing truthful information.
“NBS management kindly requests public support in providing data to interviewers visiting households from December 3, 2025,” the bureau stated.
