France booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a commanding 2-0 victory over Morocco in Thursday’s quarter-final clash.
After a tightly contested first half, Didier Deschamps’ side broke the deadlock in the 60th minute when captain Kylian Mbappé finished clinically after being set up by Désiré Doué.
The French doubled their advantage six minutes later as Ousmane Dembélé fired home from outside the penalty area following another contribution from Mbappé, leaving Morocco with a mountain to climb.
Morocco, who had enjoyed an impressive run to the last eight after eliminating Canada and the Netherlands in the knockout stages, struggled to break down France’s disciplined defence despite spells of possession.
France controlled the closing stages of the encounter to preserve their clean sheet and secure a deserved victory, advancing to the World Cup semi-finals where they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Spain and Belgium.
The victory keeps alive France’s quest for another FIFA World Cup title, with Mbappé once again proving decisive as Les Bleus continued their impressive run in the tournament.
