Popular food influencer and Guinness World Records holder, Hilda Baci, has launched a bold new culinary challenge — cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice. The high-energy event kicked off Friday at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, drawing thousands of Gen Zs, millennials, celebrities, and passionate food lovers from across the city.

The record-breaking attempt sparked major excitement, with long queues forming around the venue as guests scrambled to gain entry. Security had their hands full managing the restless crowd, verifying registrations and keeping order as the buzz around the jollof rice attempt spread like wildfire.

Attendees waved banners, danced to live music, and chanted Hilda’s name as the event transformed into a lively festival celebrating Nigerian food culture.

Speaking to journalists at the event, Hilda Baci revealed that the custom-built pot being used has a massive capacity of 22,619 litres.

“My original plan was to fill 80 percent of the pot,” she explained. “That would require about 5,278 kilograms of raw basmati rice — roughly 264 bags. But we’ve now increased our goal to 25,000 bags of rice to create an even more impactful result.”

The cooking commenced to loud cheers as Hilda and her team began the enormous task, using locally sourced ingredients and traditional jollof preparation techniques. The aroma of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices filled the air, electrifying the crowd.

Hilda Baci, who previously gained international fame for her record-breaking 100-hour cooking marathon, has become a symbol of Nigerian culinary excellence and female empowerment.
