ATACA Elects New EXCO …moves to deepen coverage of Aviation, maritime, transportation sectors

The Abuja Transport and Aviation Correspondents Association (ATACA) has elected new executives to steer the association from 2025 to 2027. The keenly contested election took place in Abuja on February 12, 2025, following the expiration of the previous leadership’s tenure.

Ejike Ejike emerged as the new chairman after securing an 18 to 7 victory over his opponent, Jude Idu. In the vice chairman race, Francisca Ogar triumphed over Gabriel Agbeja with the same vote margin. Other elected executives include Tyavzua Saanyol as General Secretary, Nnaemeka Ihenacho as Assistant Secretary, and Adeola Akinbobola as Treasurer.

Additionally, Joke Falaju, Chidi Ugwu, and Kasim Sumaina retained their positions as Financial Secretary, Welfare Secretary, and Public Relations Officer (PRO), respectively.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman Ejike Ejike pledged to harness the potential of all ATACA members to strengthen the association. He called for cooperation from members and vowed to uphold improved welfare, equity, and justice throughout his tenure.

The outgoing chairman, Mr. Oru Leonard, urged members to remain united in their mission to serve the Nigerian public with accurate and professional journalism. He emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and dedication in reporting on aviation, marine, and transportation sectors.

ATACA, a body of journalists covering the Aviation, Marine & Blue Economy, and Transportation sectors in Abuja, is composed of representatives from major Nigerian media platforms. The association remains committed to investigative journalism, research, and providing a credible platform for information sharing among its members. Additionally, ATACA aims to enhance training and capacity-building initiatives for its members to adapt to the evolving media landscape and emerging trends in the transportation industry.
