The factional leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, and several other members over alleged anti-party activities.

The development was disclosed by the Adamawa State ADC Chairman, Muh’d Raji Sulaiman Zumo, who stressed that no member is above the party’s constitution, regardless of status or influence.

“Let it be clearly stated that no individual, regardless of his status or influence, is above the law or the constitution of the African Democratic Congress, as long as he is a card-carrying member of the party,” Zumo said while addressing journalists.

He reiterated that discipline and strict adherence to party rules remain fundamental principles of the ADC.

“Gentlemen of the press, ADC is built on discipline, justice, and the supremacy of the law,” he added.

Zumo explained that the decision followed consultations among members of the party’s executive leadership in Adamawa State. He listed those affected by the suspension to include Atiku Abubakar, Engr. David Babalawal, and Barr. Sadiq Ibrahim Darsin.

According to him, the individuals were sanctioned for their alleged roles in fostering disunity within the party.
