Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that one of his biggest fears is not knowing the right time to step away from the music industry after a successful career.
The award-winning singer made the disclosure during a video broadcast, where he reflected on the realities of fame and the challenges of maintaining relevance in the entertainment industry.
According to Davido, it is difficult to watch celebrities who were once at the peak of their careers gradually lose the spotlight. He said witnessing the rise and decline of many public figures has made him appreciate the importance of recognising the right time to move on.
The singer also said he would like to establish a therapy centre for celebrities who struggle to cope with life after fame, noting that many former stars face emotional and mental challenges when their time in the spotlight comes to an end.
“If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy centre for people who were popular and very successful because it is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not,” he said.
Drawing a comparison with football, Davido cited his friend Cristiano Ronaldo, saying that despite the Portuguese star’s achievements, he still faced criticism after Portugal’s exit from the FIFA World Cup.
“That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for me to come and spoil it with something. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up,” the singer added.
