Nigerian content creator and media personality Kiekie, whose real name is Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, has explained why she is selective about the people she collaborates with in the entertainment industry.
Speaking during a recent podcast, the skit maker said she avoids working with content creators whose skits she considers overly vulgar or contain inappropriate material.
According to Kiekie, collaborating with such creators would not align with the image and values she has carefully built over the years.
She said protecting her brand remains one of her top priorities, stressing that while she respects the creative freedom of other entertainers, she prefers to work with individuals whose content reflects her personal principles and complements her brand.
“I would never collaborate with any skit maker that is too vulgar. I will not be able to collaborate with them,” she said.
When asked to name a specific content creator, Kiekie declined, saying she did not have anyone in particular in mind.
“Let me think about it. Hmm… I don’t have the name of one, but I have seen quite a number of them. So if you’re too much breasts, bum bum—not that I have a problem with it—but it’s just brand alignment.”
She added that her decision not to collaborate with certain creators should not be interpreted as a lack of respect for their work.
“My inability to collaborate with you doesn’t mean that I look down on what you do or I don’t respect what you do or I don’t see your hard work. I recognise your hard work, but we just don’t align. It will affect the way my own brands approach my work,” she said.
