Nigeria Congratulates Equatorial Guinea on Independence Anniversary

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea as the Central African nation celebrates its Independence Anniversary.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed warm wishes to his counterpart, His Excellency Simeón Oyono Esono Angue, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Diaspora of Equatorial Guinea.

Marking a moment of pride and reflection, Nigeria praised the resilience, unity, and progress of the people of Equatorial Guinea, describing their journey since independence as a source of inspiration across Central Africa and beyond.

“Nigeria celebrates with the government and people of Equatorial Guinea on this important occasion. Our two countries share deep bonds of friendship, built on common values, geographic ties, and mutual respect,” the statement read.

As part of its continued diplomatic outreach, Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Equatorial Guinea, particularly in strategic sectors such as energy, trade, maritime security, education, and regional integration.

Both nations collaborate actively through regional bodies like the Gulf of Guinea Commission and the African Union, working together to promote peace, security, and economic growth across the continent.

Nigeria also commended Equatorial Guinea’s contributions to regional peace efforts and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation for stability and sustainable development in Africa.

The congratulatory message was signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
