The 8 Division, Nigerian Army Sokoto has concluded this year’s Inter-Brigade Corporals and Below Competition with a vibrant closing ceremony capping four days of rigorous drills and a spirited military contest.
The event which was marked by precision, endurance saw troops from brigade formations engage in a series of tactical and physical challenges designed to sharpen combat readiness and unit cohesion.
The General Officer Commanding the Division and Commander Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA,Major General Ibikunle Ajose, commended the commitment, discipline, and professionalism exhibited throughout the competition.
Represented by Brigadier General Moses Udom Ikobah, General Ajose described the event as a testament to the hard work, resilience, and fighting spirit of the soldiers .
He stressed that the competition reflected the division’s unwavering focus on operational excellence.
Ajose noted that the move was not just a display of strength and endurance ,it’s a vital platform for building capacity and preparing troops for real-world challenges.
The GOC said the passion, skill, and discipline shown underscore the NA readiness to tackling emerging security threats.”
He urged all participants, whether victors or not, to carry forward the lessons learned and remain mission-ready at all times.
General Ajose also extended profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General O. Oluyede, for his steadfast support and commitment to the professional development of personnel.
He further commended the Chief Judge and the organizing committee, especially the 8 Division Garrison who emerged the overall winner of the competition.

A Kano State High Court, on Friday, sentenced a 27-year-old man, Abdullahi Lawan, to seven years imprisonment for sexually abusing three teenage boys. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has rejected a letter inviting it to an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the ruling party.
