The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed deep concern over the intensifying conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Israel, calling for an immediate halt to hostilities to prevent further destabilisation of the Middle East region.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the ongoing missile and aerial exchanges between both countries, describing the development as a threat to regional peace, global security, and economic stability.

The statement, signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, emphasised Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to peaceful coexistence, non-aggression, and multilateral diplomacy.

“Nigeria urges both Iran and Israel to exercise the utmost restraint and prioritise dialogue over confrontation,” the statement said. “Military retaliation only endangers civilian lives and pushes the region further into instability.

The government also called on the United Nations Security Council and the broader international community to intensify de-escalation efforts and facilitate a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

“Nigeria stands ready to support all genuine efforts aimed at restoring peace in the Middle East and promoting international cooperation based on mutual respect and international law,” the statement added.
