The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across several parts of the country for Monday, September 15, 2025, with a flood alert issued for some northern states.

According to the agency’s daily weather outlook shared via its official X handle, residents in the northern region should expect isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall during the morning hours, particularly in parts of Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba states.

By the afternoon and evening, weather conditions are expected to intensify in the north, with thunderstorms and moderate rain anticipated in Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, and Katsina states.

In central Nigeria, NiMet projects cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine in the morning. Moderate rainfall is also likely in areas such as Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rain are forecast across most parts of the central region.

For the southern states, a cloudy atmosphere is expected in the morning with chances of moderate rainfall in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River. In the afternoon and evening, moderate rainfall is expected to spread across many parts of the region.

The agency also issued a flash flood advisory for Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe states, warning that localized flooding may occur due to persistent rain. NiMet cautioned that thunderstorms could cause temporary disruptions to outdoor activities and urged citizens to take necessary precautions.

Motorists have been advised to drive with care, as reduced visibility and slippery road surfaces could pose safety risks. Residents in flood-prone areas are encouraged to remain alert and heed weather advisories.

NiMet reiterated the importance of staying updated through official weather channels, particularly during the peak of the rainy season when the risks of flooding and travel disruptions are higher across various parts of Nigeria.
