"I Killed for Phones, Cash': Self-Confessed Killer Details Shocking Crimes in Kano, Jigawa"

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime, the Kano State Police Command has confirmed the voluntary surrender of a 20-year-old suspect, Umar Auwal, popularly known as ‘Abba Dujal’, who admitted to committing a string of deadly attacks across Kano and Jigawa States.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Kano on Tuesday. The suspect, a resident of Wudil Local Government Area, turned himself in following the Command’s intensified clearance operations targeting criminal hideouts across the region.

According to the police statement, Auwal confessed to fatally stabbing a victim at Sabon Gari Quarters, Kano, before stealing the deceased’s Infinix Hot 40i phone, which he later sold for N40,000. He also admitted to killing another individual in Kurna Quarters, making away with a Samsung S26 phone he sold for N160,000.

In a third confession, Auwal revealed he killed a man in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State and sold the victim’s motorcycle for N300,000.

The suspect is currently being held at the Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section for further investigation.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, acknowledged the suspect’s decision to come forward and urged other individuals involved in similar acts to follow his example. He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
