Police Launch Probe Into Fatal Shooting of Chiamaka Okeke, Promise No Cover-Up

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Ikioye Orutugu, has appealed for calm following the tragic death of a young woman, Chiamaka Okeke, allegedly shot by a trigger-happy security operative at Ibeto Junction in Nnewi.

In an official statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Commissioner described the incident as deeply regrettable and affirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.

According to Mr. Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Command is actively collaborating with relevant security agencies to identify the officer responsible for the fatal shooting. He added that the Commissioner has instructed a thorough investigation into the matter, which is currently underway.

“We understand the gravity of the situation and assure the public that there will be no cover-up. The Command will not tolerate any form of misconduct by security personnel,” the statement read.

The incident has sparked widespread concern in the community, with many calling for accountability and transparency.

The Anambra Police Command has urged residents to remain calm and trust that due process will be followed in delivering justice for the late Chiamaka Okeke.
