Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command have apprehended a suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler, Abashe Gizo, at the Shinge Market in Lafia.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahman Nansel, the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence reports. Gizo, who had long been on the Command’s wanted list for his involvement inI multiple criminal activities, was finally tracked down in a coordinated operation.

SP Nansel revealed that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crimes and subsequently led police operatives to his hideout in Ruwan Baka village, located in Doma Local Government Area. There, officers recovered an AK-49 rifle and a loaded magazine, further linking him to a string of violent crimes in the region.

In a related development, one Fatima Salisu was recently intercepted while attempting to transport a cache of ammunition from Doma to Katsina State, intensifying police crackdowns on illicit arms trafficking networks.

The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, commended the efforts of the CID operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals to the authorities.
