The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the closure of sales for its presidential Expression of Interest forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, said while the presidential window has now closed, the deadline for other positions has been extended. Aspirants for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship seats now have until May 24 to obtain their forms.

The party also confirmed that screening of aspirants who have completed the Expression of Interest process will begin on Tuesday and end on May 26. Only those cleared at this stage will be eligible to proceed to the nomination phase.

According to the NDC, the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for successful aspirants will run from Wednesday to May 26, with no further extensions planned. “No further extension will be granted beyond the stipulated deadline,” the statement said, urging strict compliance.

Aspirants have been directed to appear before screening panels with required documents, including educational certificates, voter cards, membership cards and curriculum vitae, all submitted in six copies. The party said the process would assess “capacity, competence, character” and reflect “the wishes of the electorate”.

The NDC added that its screening committee would also apply affirmative action principles, giving consideration to women, youths and persons with disabilities. It encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus-building as part of efforts to ensure a transparent and inclusive selection process.
