Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy and Colombian pop icon Shakira have reunited ahead of the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show, sharing a warm embrace during rehearsals before Sunday’s final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, shared a video on his X account showing the pair smiling, hugging and chatting outside production trailers as they prepared for the landmark performance.
Captioning the clip, the Grammy-winning singer wrote: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”

The rehearsal comes ahead of what FIFA has described as the inaugural Super Bowl-style halftime show at a World Cup final, with Burna Boy and Shakira set to perform “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

FIFA earlier confirmed that the duo will headline the performance, marking a major entertainment milestone for football’s biggest event.
Reports indicate the traditional 15-minute halftime interval could be extended to about 30 minutes to accommodate the show. The break is expected to include the usual post-first-half analysis alongside an 11-minute live performance.
The halftime spectacle will also feature performances and appearances by BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus with Coldplay, as well as characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets.
According to FIFA, the event will also promote global education initiatives for children.
Sunday’s World Cup final will see Spain take on Argentina.
Burna Boy and Shakira previously performed “Dai Dai” during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the official World Cup anthem was unveiled.
