NECO Honours Outstanding Staff, Students at 2024 Productivity Awards

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has celebrated excellence and dedication among its workforce and student community at the 2024 Staff Productivity Awards, held at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

The annual event, aimed at promoting a culture of excellence, was presided over by NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, who praised the awardees for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance in 2024.

“This initiative is not just about rewarding excellence, but about motivating staff and students to reach even greater heights,” Wushishi said.

The awards spanned multiple categories, including:

  • Certificates of Service for retirees
  • Hardest-working staff at zonal, state, and headquarters levels
  • Best State Coordinator
  • Best Driver
  • Top-performing students nationwide in NECO examinations

Wushishi emphasized that recognising both administrative staff and high-achieving students reinforces NECO’s commitment to performance-driven leadership in Nigeria’s education sector.

The NECO boss also extended appreciation to stakeholders—including educators, government partners, and exam centre managers—who have supported NECO’s transformation over the past three years of his administration.

He highlighted several achievements, including transparent conduct of examinations, prompt release of results, seamless staff promotion processes and development and deployment of custom ICT software to promote fairness and efficiency

In a bid to modernize operations, Wushishi noted that NECO has acquired PS 900 series components to enhance OMR scanning. He stated that the examination has distributed all-in-one computer systems to offices across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT, purchased the e-Granary database, a digital resource to support subject officers with up-to-date academic content and onducted regular staff training programmes to enhance capacity and service delivery

“Technology is the backbone of a fair, transparent, and future-ready examination system. We are committed to digital transformation,” he added.
