Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reduced the price of aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1, to ₦1,650 per litre from ₦1,750, in a move aimed at easing pressure on airlines operating in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the refinery said the price cut is part of efforts to support domestic carriers facing rising operational costs, with fuel accounting for a significant share of airline expenses.

“The move is aimed at easing cost pressures on airlines and ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country,” the company said, adding that the intervention is expected to improve stability in the aviation sector.

The refinery also announced additional measures, including a 30-day interest-free credit facility backed by bank guarantees for marketers and airline operators, alongside a shift from dollar-based pricing to a naira-denominated structure.

Industry stakeholders have previously warned that high Jet A1 prices were placing severe financial strain on operators and threatening the sustainability of flight services across the country.

“The refinery’s decision is expected to provide relief to airline operators by lowering fuel procurement costs, improving operational stability, and supporting efforts to moderate airfares,” the statement added.
