Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State will address residents in a statewide broadcast at 6:00 p.m. today, following his return to Port Harcourt after the end of a six-month emergency rule in the state.
Fubara made the announcement while speaking to journalists at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday afternoon.
“We are going to the state by 6 p.m.,” the governor said, signaling an important message to the people of Rivers.
The governor, visibly moved by the turnout at the Port Harcourt International Airport, expressed deep appreciation to residents and supporters who welcomed him back earlier in the day.
“I’m really humbled by what I saw at the airport. That reception really humbled me. It showed love and solidarity,” Fubara said.
“This kind of support shows there is a strong bond between the government and the people.”
Fubara arrived at the Government House in Port Harcourt accompanied by his wife, top aides, and security chiefs. Among the dignitaries present was his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie.
Upon arrival, the governor inspected his official residence and then proceeded to his office to begin preparations for his statewide address.
